REPRESENTATIVE TAN PARKER NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE TEXAS ARMED SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP

“I can think of no higher calling for our nation’s youth than to serve in our armed services where they will further their educations and receive the training necessary to succeed in their future endeavors,” Parker stated. “This scholarship program is the perfect opportunity to assist an aspiring student along that path, and I look forward to awarding my office’s scholarship to a very impressive and qualified individual.”


Work Still Left To Do In The House Corrections Committee

While I believe that the Corrections Committee succeeded in addressing many of our state’s top challenges within our correctional system last legislative session, our work is not yet done. In order to continue looking at ways to improve the correctional process in our state, the committee will be holding several public hearings on a multitude of topics over the next few months.


REP TAN PARKER APPOINTED TO THE JOINT INTERIM COMMITTEE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

In accepting his appointment, Parker stated, “No criminal matter warrants our immediate attention more than human trafficking. It is the fastest growing illegal enterprise and it preys on our most vulnerable citizens. It is completely deplorable and I could not think of a better way to address overall public safety than to once and for all put an end to this inhumane criminal act.”


Empty Bellies

The reality is that there are a significant number of children in Denton County who suffer from hunger and food insecurity. Unfortunately, many of these children are only able to eat a complete meal when at school, whether that be breakfast, lunch or both. When these children leave school for the weekend, some are not able to eat a meal again until they return to school the next Monday morning.
