The Need for More Adoptive Families

Serving in the Texas Legislature as your representative has afforded me with the unique opportunity to thoroughly study and analyze the many important issues facing Texas, including many challenges that are overlooked but have serious implications. Being a member of the House Committee on Human Services has brought me face to face with one of those very challenges – the state of adoption in Texas.


Ultrasound Pregnancy Bill at Texas Senate

He expressed his support for the Ultrasound Bill if a vote is required on the House floor. “Our society must continue to preserve the value of life. We know that once a woman can physically see that a life is growing within her, the less likely she will be to elect to terminate her pregnancy, which is why I am supporting House Bill 36,” said Rep. Parker.


Opposition to use federal stimulus funds for unemployment insurance is growing in Austin

“My legislation was directed at producing a legislative approach that would have allowed Texas to utilize our federal tax dollars without forcing any additional financial cost on Texas businesses after the stimulus funds would have been exhausted,” Parker said.

It’s nice to see a state legislator try to solve one of the many problems encountered by consumers who contact The Watchdog. We wish it happened more. Simple fixes in state laws, such as could happen here, are always welcome.
